New Guidelines for Managing Nausea
The American Society of Clinical Oncology recently released updated guidelines for the management of nausea in cancer care. The more patients know about their treatment and its side effects, the better they can discuss options with their doctor. Always remember to report problems w/ nausea or other side effects to your doctor immediately. There are many options available to control it and they work differently for everyone.

Quality Care ProjectLEAD Deadline June 9
The deadline to apply for NBCC's Quality Care ProjectLEAD seminar is fast approaching. Its being held this year from Aug. 2 - Aug 5, 2006 in San Jose, CA.

Modeled after NBCCF's regular Project LEADŽ, Quality Care Project LEADŽ covers topics in science, policy and advocacy. Participants learn about clinical standards of care, practice guidelines for breast cancer, what evidence-based health care is, how to critically evaluate health care information, and how the health care system is structured and financed. The course includes a series of lectures and interactive learning sessions. Through the use of real-life scenarios, participants work in small groups to tackle difficult but common problems faced by breast cancer patients and to develop strategies for improving the health care system so future breast cancer patients do not encounter these same problems.

There is no charge for the seminar. Scholarships are available from NBCC and NOBCCF to cover the cost of lodging and transportation.
