Insurance Covering Cancer is "Cadillac Coverage"?National Women's Law Center points out a disturbing trend in health care "reform". Demonstrating all "health care reform"
initiatives aren't necessarily good, some states are allowing insurer's to offer "bare bones" type policies
that don't cover essential coverage for cancer treatment. These insurance plans are touted as "preventive health
care plans". Florida's governor recently signed a health care reform bill allowing insurance companies
to sell "bare bones" health care plans that don't cover items like cancer treatment and pregnancy.
If a woman gets cancer and tries to buy supplemental coverage for treatment, she'll be denied for having a "pre-existing
condition". Too many women can't afford real health insurance policies these days and breast
cancer survivors are refused coverage or charged exhorbitant rates by others. Real health care reform doesn't offer
band-aid solutions such as "prevention only" coverage, but instead must provide more.

Women & MoneyHi All! We're back from the NBCC Annual Conference & Lobby Day and yesterday dashed off to Columbus for some
state level advocacy. We'll be bringing everyone up to date on what's going on. In the meantime,
here's a great new resource from the Ohio Treasurer's office with consumer oriented financial advice & resources.
State Treasurer Richard Cordray has put together a program called "Women & Money" that
provides information and resources to help women manage their finances. http://www.yourmoneynowonline.org/content/view/20/590/The site also provides great consumer information about where to call for help with insurance, mortgage and other
financial matters. Check it out!
